Hello! I am Christina Lorper, a student in the MLIS program at Queens College. I am currently taking my core courses, one of which is 700 The Technology of Information.
In this course I am learning how to use various information technologies to enhance my skill set and prepare to be a librarian in the 21st Century. I graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 2018 with a BA in History and minors in Art History and Film& Video Studies.

Hobbies

Cooking
As a young kid I loved helping in the kitchen, holding the position of sous chef and official taste tester. Creating a delicious meal is fulfilling and has become an outlet for me to relax and unplug. Learning to cook at a young age influenced my desire to become more self sufficient and handy. I love experimenting and trying new things, but often refer to old family recipes. I eat mostly vegetarian meals but love roasting a chicken once in a while, making making a massive pot of chicken soup with the leftovers.

Gardening
I grew up helping my mom in the garden, which quickly shifted from being a chore to becoming an outlet for my meticulous inclinations and an excuse to be outdoors. I don't have much of a green thumb, so I take care of other things landscaping related. Finding a balance between manicured and lush is both rewarding and satisfying. Not to mention enjoying the literal the fruits (or vegetables) of my labor.

Reading

I love reading a variety of different genres, especially historic nonfiction, fantasy, dystopian literature and gothic. Here are a few of my favorite books:
